Unpacking

I finally put aside my nervousness about sewing on my own. Cutting a custom sewing pattern for a dress was the challenge for today! I opened up the garage and took out the bag of fabric I haven't touched in over 10 months. I laid it out on the patio table and began to work. Though it took a while, I'm very optimistic.

It was a good day...

Seaside Escape

One of my dreams is to retire to a simple cottage by the sea. I'd keep a favorite pair of boots to last me through the cold night as I stroll down the beach.

I am so in love with cream colors! I prefer a more romantic look over the rock n roll. But this look is definitely best in the spring. The green is the right contrast to the cardigan. I'll get to planning a fall outfit with darker tones but proven from experience, there will be plenty of sunshine in the next 3 months.

To my surprise

I have had mixed feelings about the appeal of Tyra's Next Top Model series, but Cycle 13 featuring petite models (5'7" and under) blew me away. Commercially, it appealed to the majority of petite women and girls who fantasized of entering the high fashion industry. I was most inspired by the Hapa theme in episode 9 because by fusing different ethnicity into fashion and makeup, Tyra reminded me how history stays with us and culture continues to stir us.

This episode demonstrated that there are opportunities to express creativity as well to communicate different people's voices. A model is most alive because of this concept by conveying strength. Nicole Fox, as a Japanese/Malagasy in the photograph below, stands powerful and elegant without the common cold stare editorials models have. Love it!
